When I lived in Auckland, New Zealand I regularly visited the Cascades park, situated on the outskirts of Auckland in the Waitakere Ranges. It’s my favorite place, with a variety of greens, shapes and the whistling sound of the tui and wood pigeon always there. A continuing force of inspiration.
‘I feel I need to go there, feel it and then distance myself from it totally in order to capture the real thing. I don’t want to paint a realistic image. I want to visualise the freedom that lies within.’
